4 Days Uganda Gorilla Wildlife Safari

Meet the gorillas and the amazing wildlife on this 4 Days Uganda Gorilla Wildlife Safari. Relax by Lake Bunyonyi with amazing scenery. Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park comprises a forest that covers a square area of 321 km. the forest is considered to be one of the oldest lasting over 25,000 years. While on this trip, one will have a good chance to trek one of the twelve (12) mountain gorilla-habituated groups.

On the other hand, Lake Mburo National Park is a compact park, located conveniently close to the highway that connects Kampala to the parks of western Uganda. It is the smallest of Uganda’s savanna national parks and is underlain by ancient Precambrian metamorphic rocks which date back more than 500 million years. It is home to 350 bird species as well as zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, oribi, Defassa waterbuck, leopard, hippo, hyena, topi, and reedbuck.

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Lake Mburo National Park

After an early morning breakfast, you will meet with the driver guide who will drive you to Lake Mburo National Park, located along the Masaka-Mbarara road. Lake Mburo National Park is a small Savannah park with numerous wildlife like antelopes, zebras, hyenas, and Giraffes, plus plenty of bird life especially on the shores of its lake – Lake Mburo. The 235km journey will take about 4 and a half hours, so you will arrive in the park in the afternoon and there you will have your lunch and thereafter, a boat ride on the lake itself. This boat ride will reward you with sights of various amazing water animals such as Hippos and giant crocodiles, plus birds and other animals that come to drink at the shores of the great lake. Later, you will dine and slumber at one of the various accommodations in the area.

Day 2: Game drive in Mburo and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After breakfast at the lodge, you will have an early 3 – 4 hours game drive in the park and here, you will be able to see animals such as antelopes, hyenas, zebras, warthogs, buffalos, and Giraffes. Later return to the lodge, check out, and later embark on the journey to the renowned Bwindi Impenetrable National Park mostly famous because of its mountain gorillas even though there are other animals and a wide range of bird species that make this forest their home. In the evening you will arrive in one of the four regions of the park namely; Buhoma, Nkuringo, Ruhija, and Rushaga. You will dine and spend the night at one of the various accommodations in the area.

Day 3: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi forest

The day will start with an early morning breakfast at the lodge, followed by a drive to the park headquarters by the guide this will depend on the selected out of the four major gorilla regions of Bwindi that are Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Nkuringo. Here, the Park Rangers will brief you about gorilla tracking rules – what to do and not to do while in this park. The rangers will go ahead to divide you into groups of 8. That’s when the activity of trekking these gentle giants will kick off, with the guide of the rangers into the forest. The rangers will help in cutting and clearing the undergrowth along the forest to make a way through.

This will be a great, memorable, and amazing experience watching the Mountain gorillas in their natural habitats as they feed, play around, and also do their day-to-day activities. The gorilla trekking activity time can vary from 2 hrs to up to even 8 hours since it depends on the current location and movement of the gorillas, which is sometimes earlier predicted by the rangers. A walking stick may be required as you will be expected to walk long, bushy, and muddy distances in steep conditions. Upon meeting the gorillas, you will have a maximum of one hour with them as you admire them as well as take photos (camera flashlight and camera sounds are not advised).

After the experience, you will later have to return back to the lodge and have the evening to relax at the lodge. The other option will be to visit the Batwa community which will expose you to their culture which is replicated in how they live, and dance, and also on hearing stories concerning their culture which will leave you amazed. Then, you will have dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Day forest walk & Departure back to Kampala.

Right after breakfast, you will have to choose between an early forest walk and a community walk, or even do both. Later, you will drive back to Kampala and be transferred to the airport for your departure flight. This will mark the end of our 4 days at Uganda Gorilla Safari Bwindi and L. Mburo.
